Clarence Crane is widely known as the inventor of Lifesavers candy. In the year 1912, chocolate manufacturer Crane came forward with a thought for a mint. This mint was shape like the round tubes, which a lot of ships had just started out to use as flotation devices if someone were to fall overboard. These devices were known as life savers. Owing to its shape, the mint, which Clarence Crane emerged up was referred the Lifesaver.
